In the Colorado River Basin in 1922. . .the Law of the River began! The Colorado River Compact of 1922 was approved on Nov. 24, 1922 and was the first agreement to legally connect the Colorado River Basin states. It designated 7.5 million acre-feet of water each to the Upper and Lower Basins. Arizona refused to ratify the Compact until 1944.
