Goats along the CAP canal

Goats have a reputation for eating everything in sight – which is actually not true. What is true is that they have an appetite for roughage, including grass, hay and weeds! In light of this, 70 goats were delivered to CAP’s Superstition Mountains Recharge Project for a special dining event where the main course is weeds … and a lot of them! Excessive weeds in the basins can slow the water percolation and not only do the goats effectively reduce them, but they also can get into places machines cannot and are more efficient than manual removal. Watch for an upcoming video showing these herbivores in action!
