Board approves recommended 2022/23 biennial budget

The Central Arizona Water Conservation District Board of Directors (CAWCD) convened on Thursday, Nov. 4, 2021 for its November 2021 Board meeting. CAWCD Board President Terry Goddard called the meeting to order noting that the public was in the Board Room for the first time since March 2020. Face coverings were required for all attending. The public was also invited to watch via livestream and to provide public comment via the Board’s online “Blue Card.”

After a presentation by the Public Policy Committee, the Board authorized staff to seek legislation to maintain the authority to levy the four-cent tax at the current rate through January 2045.

And, after a presentation by the Finance, Audit & Power Committee, the Board approved the Insurance Program and Captive Funding for calendar year 2022. The Board then approved the recommended 2022/23 biennial budget.

The CAWCD Board of Directors is a popularly elected, 15-member board. Ten members are from Maricopa County, four from Pima County and one from Pinal. Members serve six-year, unpaid terms. The board typically meets publicly the first Thursday of each month to establish policy and set rates and taxes for CAP.
