Recently, CAWCD Board Members toured backwater and marsh habitats in Reach 3 of the Multi-Species Conservation Program (MSCP) planning area, alongside Bureau of Reclamation staff and Imperial Irrigation District Board and staff members. Reach 3 is important to CAP because our intake at Mark Wilmer Pumping Plant is located there. Decisions taken with regard to CAP diversions impact MSCP and vice versa. This Reach is also home to spawning habitats for the endangered Razorback Sucker species as well as several marsh bird habitats (Southwest Willow Flycatcher, Yuma Ridgway’s Rail, Least Bittern and others). Learn more about the MSCP here.
