Senator Jon Kyl was one of those great Arizonans – a true statesman who served his state and country with dignity and honor. He understood that water is the lifeblood of Arizona communities and his deep commitment to Arizona permanently shaped our state. Senator Kyl approached resource management with unique foresight, collaboration, and determination. Among so many accomplishments, he was the driving force behind the historic Arizona Water Settlements Act of 2004, a landmark achievement that resolved complex tribal water rights, secured critical infrastructure funding, and built a foundation of stability for generations of water users in Arizona.
