Waddell Pump Generating Plant trash rake

This is the view through the Waddell Pump/Generating Plant trash rake infrastructure by Lake Pleasant, looking south toward Waddell Canal, an example of the CAP system’s complex framework. In particular, the yellow festoon cable carries the power and control signals from the forebay deck to the trash rake trolley. The trash rake helps prevent large debris in the canal from entering the pumping plant. Moving back and forth across the water entrance to the plant, the trolley cleans each grate for the four pump/generating units and four pump units. It’s CAP’s amazing infrastructure in action.
