The CAP canal has 39 check structures and each one is a critical component to ensure the reliability of the system. They are operated remotely and act as a metering device, controlling the flow of water into and out of a segment, or pool, of the canal. Each check structure contains two radial gates that operate independently by electric variable speed motors, a feature designed to provide system redundancy.
