In the shadow of New Waddell Dam sits Waddell Pump/Generating Plant, a key component to CAP’s reliable water delivery system. It has eight units; four adjustable speed pumps and four 2-speed pump/generators that can generate as much as 40 megawatts of power when releasing water from Lake Pleasant. The bypass structure, located next to Waddell Pump/Generating Plant and active in this photo, is used to quickly release water from Lake Pleasant into the canal.
