The Central Arizona Groundwater Replenishment District (CAGRD) is a special function of CAP that plays a crucial role in Arizona’s water management by replenishing groundwater is pumped by its members. CAGRD assists water providers and land owners in demonstrating an assured water supply, a requirement for new development.
In total, 24 Arizona cities, towns and private water companies and more than 1,100 subdivisions in Maricopa, Pinal and Pima counties are members of CAGRD. Since its inception, CAGRD has replenished approximately 500,000 acre-feet of water on behalf of its members. One acre-foot equals 325,851 gallons.
