The Central Arizona Water Conservation District Board (CAWCD) met on Thursday, Aug. 6 at Central Arizona Project (CAP) headquarters in north Phoenix.
The Board authorized execution of a wheeling contract between CAWCD and La Paz County for up to 10 acre-feet per year of Colorado River water to serve La Paz-area cattle ranchers, as well as the La Paz County Public Works Department for regular operation and maintenance on La Paz County roads.
In addition, the Board heard a presentation on a potential upcoming exchange implementation agreement involving CAWCD, the Town of Cave Creek and the City of Peoria. Other presentations included:

- Programmatic funding for Colorado River Basin precipitation enhancement activities
- Colorado River Discussions
The CAWCD Board of Directors is a popularly elected 15-member board. Ten members are from Maricopa County, four from Pima County and one from Pinal County. Members serve six-year, unpaid terms. The board typically meets publicly the first Thursday of each month to establish policy and set rates and taxes for CAP. Meetings are open to the public – in person and via livestream.
