Maintaining CAP’s 336-mile system is difficult…and dangerous…so CAP always puts safety first. It’s such a priority that CAP’s safety program is frequently recognized for its excellence. Most recently, CAP received the 2020 Public Risk Management Association’s (PRIMA) Outstanding Achievement Award.
CAP received the top national award, which honors a public entity that has effectively implemented an outstanding risk management program within its organization. Key judging criteria include adoption by upper management, training, clearly identified stakeholders and more. CAP received the top honor for its communication plan “At Work or at Play: Safety Leads the Way.”
The program was developed by CAP’s safety committee, a collaborative group of employees from across the organization. It was designed to generate a high level of interest and engagement throughout the entire workforce, focusing on both professional and personal safety. Images featuring CAP employees safely enjoying hobbies as well as safely working in their profession were used in calendars, banners, posters, t-shirts and social media posts.
Whether it’s a hard hat in a pumping plant, safety glasses when grinding in the machine shop, a helmet on a bike or gloves when riding a UTV, CAP and its employees lead the way in safety!
