CAWCD Board convenes for December meeting – assigns M&I subcontract to the City of Surprise

Central Arizona Water Conservation District Board meets at CAP’s headquarters in north Phoenix

The Central Arizona Water Conservation District Board (CAWCD) met Thursday, Dec. 12 at CAP’s Headquarters in north Phoenix. The meeting began with a celebration of Board Member Jennifer Martin-McLeod at the last Board meeting of her six-year term.

The Board voted to assign Circle City Water Company’s subcontract for 3,932 acre-feet of CAP’s M&I priority water to the City of Surprise. This action also terminates Circle City’s subcontract after the water entitlement is assigned to the City of Surprise.

Based on the recommendation of the Public Policy Committee, the Board approved the proposed 2025 state and federal legislative agenda and adopted a position of Support on draft state legislation regarding Central Arizona Groundwater Replenishment District (CAGRD) annual membership dues.

And, based on the recommendation of the CAGRD and Underground Storage Committee, the Board approved a proposed increase to the non-federal partner cost-share for the Bartlett Dam Feasibility Study of up to $350,000.

On consent agenda, the Board approved:

  • Construction Contract for the Rooftop Fall Protection Project at CAP Headquarters
  • Contract for Migration of Core Enterprise Systems to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

The CAWCD Board of Directors is a popularly elected, 15-member board. Ten members are from Maricopa County, four from Pima County and one from Pinal County. Members serve six-year, unpaid terms. The board typically meets publicly the first Thursday of each month to establish policy and set rates and taxes for CAP. Meetings are open to the public – in person and via livestream.
