CAWCD Board convenes for February meeting – Elects officers and Executive Committee members

The Central Arizona Water Conservation District Board (CAWCD) met Thursday, Feb. 6 at CAP’s Headquarters in north Phoenix. The Board held elections for officers and the Executive Committee. The results are:

President – Terry Goddard
Vice-President – Alexandra Arboleda
Secretary – Karen Cesare
Executive Committee – President, Vice President, Secretary and Immediate Past President Lisa Atkins, Ylenia Aguilar, and Barbara Seago

President Terry Goddard presented General Manager Brenda Burman with a plaque commemorating her recognition as one of the Most Influential Women in Arizona by Arizona Business Magazine. And Brenda Burman reported that CAP made its annual payment to the federal government last month totaling more than $57 million. With this, CAP is now beyond the halfway point in repayment, having paid off more of the principal than it owes. Payments continue through 2045.

On consent agenda, the Board approved a contract for design and pre-construction services for the electro-mechanical relay replacement project (phase 2) at the Black Mountain and Snyder Hill Pumping Plants.

The CAWCD Board of Directors is a popularly elected, 15-member board. Ten members are from Maricopa County, four from Pima County and one from Pinal County. Members serve six-year, unpaid terms. The board typically meets publicly the first Thursday of each month to establish policy and set rates and taxes for CAP. Meetings are open to the public – in person and via livestream.
