Man Running on a Trail

Grab your most decorative Halloween costume and decorations and get ready for … racing?

Instead of trick or treating, or a festive fall harvest party, the public is invited to come celebrate the grand opening of the Marana section of the CAP Trail with fresh air and exercise while racing to the finish line in your most decorative Halloween costume.

The MadCAP Trail Race event begins at 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30 at a recently developed section of the CAP Trail. Participants will meet at the trailhead at 12300 N. Adonis Rd., Marana, Ariz.

The event is a partnership between the Town of Marana, the Bureau of Reclamation, Pima County and CAP.

After an 8 a.m. ribbon-cutting event, there will be two races with staggered start times – a Gravel Grinder bike ride (16- and 6-mile distances, respectively) and a trail run (6- and 3-miles distances).

All ages are welcome, but you must be pre-registered in order to participate. Registration is limited. See more race information, including links to register, on the Town of Marana website.

The CAP Trail is for multiple non-motorized recreational uses: walking, jogging, equestrian, and cycling. The vision for the CAP Trail started when CAP construction began in the early 1970s, and development of the trail is dependent on partnerships with local jurisdictions.
