By Brenda Burman, CAP general manager
March is Women’s History Month… and we would like to highlight some women at CAP and the contributions they make to support CAP’s mission to deliver Colorado River water to central and southern Arizona.
As the first female general manager of CAP, I appreciate this opportunity to celebrate the amazing women on our team; professionals who make significant contributions to Arizona every day. Here are a few that have been recently recognized for their extraordinary efforts and achievements.

Crystal Thompson, who received a lifetime achievement award from the Colorado River Water Users Association (CRWUA) for her contributions to the organization over the last 28 years.
Viviane Baji and Karen Fisher who are finalists for the Arizona Forward Environmental Excellence Award in Technology Innovation for their project, “CAP Deep Learning Model for Land Use Analysis in Conservation Planning.”

Maria Cerda who was named Buyer of the Year by the Arizona State Capitol Chapter of the National Institute for Public Procurement (NIGP).
Karie Ingles and Haydee Nora who were elected president and vice president of AZNIGP, the Arizona chapter of NIGP, the Institute for Public Procurement.

So, this month we will highlight additional members of our team through “Women in Water Wednesdays.”
I hope you enjoy meeting a few of the incredible women we have the privilege to work with, and who devote their careers to ensuring reliable water deliveries in Arizona.
