A common question we receive at Central Arizona Project – what area of the state does CAP serve?
The answer is that the 336-mile CAP system stretches from Lake Havasu near Parker to Tucson, and reliably delivers Colorado River water to CAP’s service area, which is comprised of Maricopa, Pinal and Pima counties.
That’s a 24,000-square-mile area in central and southern Arizona where nearly 6 million people live, equating to approximately 80 percent of the state’s population.
Bonus facts: CAP is a water wholesaler that delivers untreated water to approximately 60 water users which fall into three user groups – municipal and industrial, agricultural and Native American tribes.
