Utilities cross the canal, connect the state

CAP Utility Arch

This 12-inch in diameter utility crossing stretches 105 feet across the canal and is located just north of CAP’s Headquarters in Phoenix. It was identified as a needed place for utilities to cross the canal in the early years of CAP construction in a Master Crossing Agreement dated May 1976; however, the crossing wasn’t actually installed until 1986. Because the CAP canal nearly bisects the entire state, there are thousands of utility crossings along the system, including lines for water, sewer, power, phone, sludge and even natural gas pipelines, fiber optic cable and storm drains.
