CAWCD Board convenes in Pinal County for February meeting – Approves two agreements with the Gila River Indian Community for CAP water and LTSC purchase/sale

CAWCD Board in Session

The Central Arizona Water Conservation District Board (CAWCD) met on Thursday, Feb. 5 at Central Arizona College’s Pinal County campus in Maricopa, Ariz. The meeting began with an update from Fred Schneider, president, Arizona Water Company, talking about his organization’s use of the new Alternative Path to Assured Water Supply.

Following a report from the CAGRD and Underground Storage Committee, the Board approved two agreements between CAWCD and the Gila River Indian Community for CAP water and a long-term storage credit (LTSC) purchase and sale agreement.

The CAWCD Board of Directors is a popularly elected 15-member board. Ten members are from Maricopa County, four from Pima County and one from Pinal County. Members serve six-year, unpaid terms. The board typically meets publicly the first Thursday of each month to establish policy and set rates and taxes for CAP. Meetings are open to the public – in person and via livestream.
