Harquahala Valley Irrigation District Delivery

Thirty-five years ago, on May 22, 1985, CAP made its first delivery of Colorado River water to Harquahala Valley Irrigation District, just west of Phoenix. It was the culmination of years of innovative planning and engineering…and a lot of hard work…by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, which built the system. This first delivery signaled a new era for water use and sustainability in Arizona.
