Central Arizona Water Conservation District Board meets at CAP’s headquarters in north Phoenix

The CAWCD Board of Directors is a popularly elected, 15-member board. Ten members are from Maricopa County, four from Pima County and one from Pinal County. Members serve staggered six-year, unpaid terms. The Board typically meets publicly the first Thursday of each month to establish policy and set rates and taxes for CAP. Meetings are open to the public – in person and via livestream.

How are Board Members chosen?

The Board is elected by voters in Maricopa, Pima and Pinal County, with five members elected every two years.

What can you tell me about the upcoming 2024 election?

The counties administer the Board elections, and CAP is not involved in any election activities and by law cannot provide any specific information on Board candidates. However, we can provide some general information.

The Board is non-partisan, and candidates are included on the general election ballot in November of even-numbered years. In 2024, there are five seats in Maricopa County that are up for election on Nov. 5. There are no Pima or Pinal seats up for election this year.

There are six candidates on the Maricopa County general election ballot:

  • Lisa Atkins
  • Brian Biesemeyer
  • Rudy Fischer
  • Terry Goddard
  • Heather Macre
  • April Pinger
